Dallas is the place to be this weekend if you’re a person of faith. Bishop T.D. Jakes’s MegaFest is going on. It’s estimated that more than 50,000 people from 40 countries will attend the annual three-day festival.
Special guests include Oprah Winfrey, who will tape two “Oprah’s Lifeclass” episodes with Jakes during the Festival, Jennifer Hudson, who will perform at the “Women Of Purpose” concert and take questions from fans, Cedric the Entertainer, Pastor Joel Osteen, Mary Mary and Babyface. This is the first time ever that MegaFest will be held in Dallas, home to Jakes’ mega-church, The Potter’s House.
“We’re taking all the buildings that we can get in Dallas,” Jakes told the Tom Joyner Morning Show. “We’re expecting 50,000, but we’re prepared for more if we get it, we’ve got overflow and we’re braced for it. We just don’t know which way we’re going to go.

Mega Fest includes a wealth of conferences and seminars that Jakes is known for, including an International Faith and Family Festival, concerts with LaCrae and the “Women Of Purpose” concert, along with ManPower, MegaKids, Woman, Thou Art Loosed and other events.
MegaFest will also include the Faith and Film Festival as part of its lineup, showcasing faith-based films like the upcoming “Heaven Is Real” and “Black Nativity” which Jakes produced through his film production company. Jakes’ media onslaught continues with “T. D. Jakes Presents Mind, Body and Soul” his debut weekly talk show on BET.
“I’m excited about that,” Jakes said. “It’s starting on October 6. It’s going to be fun and [provide] opportunities to talk about things that go beyond the pulpit just to life itself in general. I think it’s going to be entertaining and informative.”
