Wendy Williams wants to be more up close and personal than she already is on your TV screens every week. She’s hosting her first comedy tour Sit Down…Too Real to Stand Up a 13-city tour to interact even more closely with her fans. But is this a true comedy show? Apparently so, so don’t expect a rehash of the Wendy Williams’ show.
“What I talk about is what I would talk about if you came to my house and sat at the kitchen table. My language is salty. Some of the topics include sex, kids, body parts and I’m not wearing a wrap dress or a pencil skirt,” Williams said. “Please don’t expect a rehash of Hot Topics. It’s still the same Wendy, just raw. I use the d-word, the c-word and the f-word.”
Wendy will be sitting down, though, that’s the case. The now 50-year-old talk show hostess says that her heels are just too high to do an hour standing up.
Comedian Roy Wood, Jr. is opening the show and
To see when she’ll be in your city, check out the dates below. Although Luenell coached her in her initial foray into comedy, Wendy says she writes her own material.
“I can’t imagine paying anyone to write jokes for me,” says Williams. “For those of you planning to come out and see me, I’m not doing knockoff jokes.”
And Wendy says she won’t be doing Bill Cosby jokes either.
“What else is there to say but guilty?”
Although Williams has gotten standing ovations thus far, she’s such a perfectionist that she can’t shake the elderly couple that walked out of her show in Florida. Although a lot of her show is made up of stories about her life, those two just didn’t appreciate it. But as J. Anthony Brown says, if you haven’t made anyone walk out the room, you’re not a real comedian. So welcome to the ranks, Wendy!
