President Joe Biden announced Saturday that he will not seek reelection in 2024. The news has elicited a range of reactions from voters in Charlotte.
According to WCCB, many residents were not surprised by Biden’s decision. Some Democrats, like John Alexander, expressed satisfaction with Biden’s presidency but are eager to see the party’s new candidate, potentially Vice President Kamala Harris, who has Biden’s endorsement. Alexander believes Harris could be a strong contender against Republicans.
Conversely, Charlotte Republicans such as Christian Serrano feel that regardless of the Democratic nominee, none will outpace Republican Donald Trump at the polls. Stephanie Nabb, another Republican, criticized the timing of Biden’s withdrawal, suggesting the decision came too late for Democrats to effectively regroup.
