Twelve people discovered their vehicles had been broken into Monday morning at an Uptown parking garage.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) said the break-ins occurred sometime Sunday night or early Monday on the ground level of the parking deck at N. College St. and E. 8th St. The garage, which charges a fee for public use, also serves guests of a hotel and residents of an apartment building, according the WBTV. CMPD has not identified any suspects, and the thefts are part of a broader trend—19 thefts were reported across area parking decks recently.

In response, The Ellis, an apartment building near the garage, informed residents it is increasing security patrols from 12 to 24 hours and adding two additional cameras to the deck. CMPD’s Crime Mapper shows 62 vehicle thefts in Uptown Charlotte since December 29.
