Krustaceans Seafood, a Charlotte restaurant known for its seafood boils with a twist, has closed its doors after nearly five years in business. The restaurant, owned by former Carolina Panthers tight end Marcus Lucas, became a popular spot for locals seeking boiled and fried seafood platters of crab, shrimp, lobster, and more.

Lucas opened the Lowcountry-inspired eatery in 2020 after being inspired by a similar restaurant in his hometown of Kansas City, says The Charlotte Observer. Despite a delayed opening due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Krustaceans Seafood found its place in Southwest Charlotte.

The closure marks the end of a short but impactful run in the city’s food scene. Lucas did not announce specific reasons for the closure, but thanked customers for their support throughout the years.
