North Carolina is facing a $500 million shortfall in funding for its state health insurance plan. As a result, 750,000 state workers will see higher premiums for the first time in a decade. According to WCCB, the lowest-paid workers will see their monthly premiums increase from $25 to $45. Employees say they want to see coverage costs drop or wages increase. A meeting discussing the details is set to take place next month.
